Spas have 3 main focuses for November & December

Spas have 3 main focuses;

  • How to overcome low treatments revenue because everyone is Christmas shopping, out at functions or too busy.
  • How to maximise spa day & treatment voucher sales
  • What promotions can you offer and how can maximise retail sales with gift sets and candles etc.

If you are reading this and are have only just thought of pre –Christmas activity I’m afraid you just may have missed the boat. I would recommend at least 6months advance planning. Consider window displays how can you grab attention. No windows? So, how is your audience going to know what you’re up to? Is it a ‘stall’, is it advertising? Whatever you do Be Different and don’t be afraid to put you head above the parapet. Are you undertaking a seasonal offer or promotion and how will your offers differ to your competition. You are competing with the Christmas shoppers so how do you make the offer of a spa day more enticing than hours schlepping around the shops.

For some great treatment creativity speak to the guys at Natural Spa Factory, the most innovative beauty business to come out since E’spa ruled the world, they help you  create your own variation on a theme and to shout about your own brand.

 Treatment Ideas

Introducing several treatments that can make the run up go with a bang!

LBD (little black dress)  Body Treatment: Sparkle in your favourite Little Black Dress during the festive period with a blend of champagne, amber and pearl infused treatments. Prepare the shimmering sensation with our champagne gold sugar based scrub, envelop the skin with a sensuous pearl and caviar wrap and lastly dazzle for the evening ahead with a gold shimmering dry oil to moisturise and leave the skin with just a hint of extravagance.

Then compliment with a glass of bubbles so the party stays with you.

Slender Pins and festive Foot Ritual

Coat the feet with a rich, dark cranberry foot polish and leave either in a heated foot pad or wrap for 5-10mins. Apply a soothing jojoba and sweet almond oil OR caviar and grapeseed massage honey and complete with a festive foot pedicure and polish.

Gingerbread Snap Mud Wrap*

Prepare the body with a salt based scrub, choosing from cocoa and sweet orange, strawberry cream sorbet OR even plain. Wrap in our gingerbread Christmas mud wrap and leave for 15-20 mins. After the treatment apply a caviar massage honey or gold dry body oil to soften the skin & leave a gentle hint of amber.

*Dual treatment – can be used in the Rasul too.

Tipsy Mulled Wine Body Treatment

Either use the tipsy mulled wine body treatment on its own or incorporate into something a bit more special and partner with a pungent ginger body wrap or cure the hangover with a mint and rosehip massage oil.

Maximise spa vouchers sales

  • Increase your Google ad word  spend from October and increase the number of your ad campaigns with different massages to attract different clients
  • Set out a plan for contacting your data base through e-mail blasting,  letters or Christmas cards
  • Give your customers a price range to choose from – remember us men are usually late and will pay for a present when under pressure and be totally led by you!
  • Put some spa packages together with a retail gift (candles are always good for this especially if you can put your own brand on them and a fun massage) so it adds value as a present.

Retail and gift set, candle sales.

Most product house sell beautiful gift sets and this is definitely one route to consider, but your competitors and all the websites and product houses will also be selling them. One way is to make your own artisan gift sets – look at Fortnum and Mason for inspiration. Small wooden crates, adourned with a raft of exemplary of packaging can be made to order – keeping the costs down and limiting stock what could be a better gift than a bespoke, handmade hamper! Word of warning, ensure the gifts don’t look like a Blue Peter out take “ this is one I made earlier”. Take the time to do it right and you will see the benefits.

It’s a cliché, but….: ‘Diamonds are formed under pressure and without the pressure, they would simply remain lumps of coal.’ So, pull out all the stops this year, put yourself and the team under pressure and starting planning for success and make this Christmas the best yet.
